• Arceus VSTAR: Arceus VSTAR‘s big damage attack combos well with Inteleon engine. Won 1st place at 2022 Brazil & Chile Regional Championships.

• Lugia VSTAR: Lugia‘s ability to take just 1 knockout while dishing big damage with Storm Wing kept it as a top deck. Won Oceania International Championship.

• Palkia VSTAR: Water Palkia VSTAR sees niche play for its disruptive Pearl Portal VSTAR Power in control decks. Top 16 at North America International Championship.

While not as common, other VSTAR decks like Whimsicott, Charizard, and Dialga have seen tournament success as well.

The gorgeous mix of Giratina‘s ghostly visage with Galarian artistic styling makes this my pick for the best VSTAR artwork. Extremely limited supply for an ultra rare alt art VSTAR drove prices over $400+.

Arceus VSTAR (Galarian Gallery) – $350+

As the Original One Pokémon, Arceus receives an appropriately divine-looking stained glass Galarian Gallery treatment. Near-mint copies trade for $350-400.

Charizard VSTAR (Secret) – $200-$250

Brilliant Stars set the record for most Charizard cards in a set with 5. The Secret Rare gold bordered VSTAR version is the most desired. PSA 10s sold for $200-$250.

Lugia VSTAR (Secret) – $150-$200

Playability as a top competitive deck elevated demand for Lugia VSTAR‘s Secret Rare version. Lightly played copies still sold for $150-200 due to scarcity.

Origin Forme Dialga VSTAR (Galarian Gallery) – $120-$150

Dialga‘s manga-inspired Galarian Gallery artwork was a big hit. Mint copies traded hands for $120-$150.

For highly playable Mythical and Legendary Pokémon like Arceus, Giratina, and Lugia, their VSTAR scarcity and demand intersected to drive prices upward fast.

Market Value of Drapion VSTAR

Drapion VSTAR is not quite on the level of an Arceus or Lugia in terms of play or collecting hype. But its Venom Spear attack provides useful damage spread utility:

• Drapion VSTAR (Regular) – $7-$10

Regular copies sit in the $7-$10 range. A solid playable card, if not a marquee collector‘s item.

• Drapion VSTAR (Rainbow Rare) – $15-$20

The dazzling rainbow rare variant has a $15-$20 market price. Great for blinging out poison decks!

• Drapion VSTAR (Full Art) – $20-$30

The full art Drapion illustrsted by TOKIYA goes for around $20-$30. The iconic purple scorpion really pops as a full art.

While it isn‘t the strongest or most valuable VSTAR competitively, I like Drapion‘s creepy scorpion design. It has that classic "don‘t mess with me" Poison-type attitude!

Are Pokémon VSTAR Cards Good Investments?

For the most sought-after VSTARs like the Alternate Arts and Secret Rares, yes I believe they are excellent investments:

Limited Supply: These special VSTAR versions had only 1 print run. Once they sell out, that‘s it!

Strong Demand: Popular Pokémon plus special versions equals high demand from collectors and players.

Long-term VSTAR Relevance: VSTAR cards will continue to be playable for at least 2 years in Standard format. Their unique abilities will keep them relevant over time.

Competitive player and investor Karen Chen told me:

• Silver Tempest: Coming September 2022 with VSTARs for SS Urshifu and Roserade. The set focuses on Lugia and Alolan Vulpix too.

• VSTAR Universe: Releasing worldwide in November 2022. Sure to be packed with amazing Secret Rare and Alternate Art VSTARs. One of the most hyped upcoming sets.
