Now let‘s analyze the top 3 choices in-depth:
#1. Thibaut Courtois
Overall Rating: 91
Height: 6‘6"
Team: Real Madrid / Belgium
Best Traits: Comes For Crosses, Long Throw
Key STATS:
- Reflexes: 90
- Positioning: 89
- Handling: 88
Playstyle: Large frame to claim crosses + excellent shot-stopping reflexes
Simply put, Thibaut Courtois is an absolute wall between the pipes standing at a towering 6-foot-6. For both club and country, he has proven to be an elite difference-maker capable of single-handedly willing teams to victory.
His Comes For Crosses trait paired with unparalleled height gives him an incredible advantage on corners and set pieces. He will rise above the chaos to intercept most balls flung into the box.
That aerial domination, combined with world-class 90 Reflexes to deny power strikes, is what makes Courtois such an intimidating presence. His acrobatic saves look effortless due to sublime athleticism.
I‘ve used him extensively in Clubs Pro mode where his Lengthy AcceleRATE style helps him cover ground rapidly. He exudes confidence between the posts, giving your backline assurance as you take risks offensively.
While Courtois does occasionally parry shots back into danger rather than catching cleanly, his elite distribution helps him regain control quickly.
| Performance Radar | Rating |
|---|---|
| Shot-Stopping | 95 |
| Reflexes | 92 |
| Distribution | 86 |
| Physique | 99 |

#2. Manuel Neuer

Best Traits: Comes For Crosses, Long Throw, Rushes Out of Goal
Key STATS:
- Reflexes: 88
- Positioning: 91
- Handling: 88
Playstyle: Unique "sweeper-keeper", ultra-aggressive
What makes Manuel Neuer so dominant in FIFA 23 comes down to two words – sweeper keeper. He basically acts as an 11th outfield player, racing off his line to intercept attacks way outside the box.
This super aggressive tactic works flawlessly due to his 92 Positioning rating, meaning he accurately reads plays and beats strikers to loose balls. He‘ll then distribute possession smoothly thanks to a stellar 88 Handling score.
Don‘t let his rushing playstyle fool you – Neuer still boasts world-class shot-stopping ability with 88 Reflexes. His unique blend of tenacity and athleticism adds a whole new dimension for building attacks from the back.

Best Traits: Comes For Crosses, Long Throw, Rushes Out For 1v1
Key STATS:
- Reflexes: 92
- Positioning: 88
- Handling: 87
Playstyle: Excellent reactions + distribution
Alisson has emerged as the prototype modern goalkeeper – quick off his line to foil 1v1s, capable of building play from the back with precise passing.
His Rushes Out of Goal trait makes him an expert shot-stopper in breakaway situations. At 6‘3" with 92 Reflexes, Alisson pulls off sprawling saves with almost Spiderman-like reactions.
While adept at quickly triggering counter-attacks, Alisson typically opts for simpler rollouts rather than pinging long switches. His Handling score is excellent for a controlled possession style.
I love how proactive Alisson is compared to reactive keepers. He takes matters into his own hands, giving your defense a security blanket against through balls.
