Yes, You Can Drive Arena War Vehicles in GTA Online Freemode!

If you‘ve ever wanted to tear through the streets of Los Santos at top speed in a weaponized monster truck or slash apart traffic with the spikes of a blood-soaked death machine, I‘ve got great news for you, my friend!

You can drive the outrageously extreme Arena War vehicles within GTA Online‘s regular Freemode! This allows you to have a blast with these specialized combat cars well outside the confines of the deathmatch arena they were designed for.

In this definitive guide from legendary A-Tech expert Jason Striegel, I‘ll tell you everything you need to know about driving the magnificent Arena War beauties around the open world, which ones perform best for general chaos, and how to customize your own metal devil for maximum Freemode presence. Let‘s get ready to rumble!

Introducing GTA Online‘s Arena War DLC

Let me start by giving you some background on where these gladiator-style vehicles came from. The Arena War update brought deadly, madness-fueled vehicular combat to GTA Online in the form of brutal arena matches.

These bouts take place in the Maze Bank Arena location and involve up to 16 players battles with an arsenal of weaponized Arena cars. Think of it like Mad Max meets a destruction derby from hell!

Along with the arena itself and new match modes, Rockstar introduced over a dozen specialized Arena War vehicles built for extreme armored warfare. They come covered in spikes, and packed to the brim with rams, flamethrowers, mines, and other deadly attachments.

Simply put, these are some of the most outrageous and creatively designed vehicles ever added to GTA Online!

Yes, Take Your Arena War Car Wreak Havoc in Freemode!

Now, here‘s the real kicker – you can drive most of the Arena War cars outside of the arena in regular Freemode lobbies and free roam!

This gives you the chance to take these steel beasts out into public sessions to show off and unleash their insane abilities on regular NPC traffic and the world at large.

Imagine rolling up to a crowded Los Santos hotspot in a monster truck with massive metallic jaws on the front, ready the crush any car in your way. Or surprising a group of car meet drifters by drifting past them in a spike-covered arena beast billowing green smoke. The possibilities for chaos are endless!

To gain access to these Arena vehicles, you will first need to purchase an Arena Workshop from the ArenaWar.tv website in-game. This will run you about $995,000 as a base price. A bit steep, but well worth it!

From there, you can buy pre-upgraded Arena cars or upgrade regular vehicles with armor plating and deadly modifications. Then just drive them out of the workshop garage, and let the Freemode fun begin!

Now, let‘s take a closer look at some of the prime Arena contenders…

The Beastly Cerberus – A $3 Million Tank-Truck Terror

One of the most awe-inspiring Arena cars that‘s built to dominate Freemode is the Cerberus – a massive, tank-like monster truck that‘s sure to send pedestrians fleeing in terror!

This steel behemoth is based on the GTA V‘s normal monster truck, but with some serious upgrades. When fully loaded with options, the Cerberus will cost you a jaw-dropping $3,870,300 – making it one of the most expensive rides in GTA Online!

For that giant price tag, you get a truck with virtually impenetrable armor plating all around that can absorb explosions, missiles, and high-speed crashes without flinching. The front-mounted hydraulic ram also hits with the force of freight train and sends vehicles flying.

According to various player tests, the Cerberus can take over 30 homing missiles before finally being destroyed, giving you an idea of just how insanely durable it is.

However, all that armor does make the Cerberus quite slow and lumbering. Its top speed is only about 80 mph, compared to over 120 mph for many supercars. And it has some trouble making sharp turns at high speeds.

Still, if you want the most intimidating, near-invincible vehicle for Freemode, almost nothing comes close to the mighty Cerberus! It‘s truly the war-rig of GTA Online and sure to provide hours of chaotic fun.

The ZR380 – Best All-Around Arena Car for Freemode

Now, the Cerberus is amazing for pure armor and destruction. But if you‘re looking for an Arena ride that‘s more usable on a regular basis, the ZR380 is your car!

This slick Arena vehicle is based on the Nissan 370Z sports car. It has very balanced performance with decent speed and armor, but retains crisp handling and traction. In fact, the ZR380 can actually drift and powerslide fairly well once you get the technique down!

In terms of durability, the stock ZR380 can take 5-6 missiles or direct RPG hits before exploding. And with max armor upgrades, you can increase that tolerance up to around 12 missiles. Not bad!

When it comes to speed, this car can hit a maximum of 127 mph – much quicker than the lumbering Cerberus. That gives you enough pace to stay competitive against most supercars and escape from the cops and other players in a pinch.

Overall, if you‘re looking for the most well-rounded and practical Arena vehicle to dominate Freemode with, the ZR380 is definitely your prime choice. It provides great versatility no matter the chaos you want to cause!

Tips for Acquiring and Customizing Your Perfect Arena War Car

Once you have your Arena Workshop purchased, here are some tips for acquiring and modding out the optimal Arena War ride:

  • Buy a base model at full price for quick access, or find discounted Arena cars on the Weekly Sales
  • Win the Lucky Wheel podium vehicle at the Diamond Casino for free cars
  • Earn Arena Points to unlock Trade Prices and discounts
  • Use the Modify option to convert regular cars into Arena beasts
  • Mix and match armor plates for balance of speed and defense
  • Add kinetic or electric mines for tricking pursuers
  • Equip jump mods to leap over obstacles and traffic
  • Pick vehicle weapons like ram drills and flamethrowers for attack power
  • Give your car an intimidating name – nothing strikes fear like "Roadkill Reaper" barreling towards you!

I‘d recommend starting with a fast base like the Issi or a durable truck like the Bruiser for your first Arena build. This gives you a solid foundation to work from.

And don‘t forget the vibrant Arena light shows and colorful neon paints to really stand out in Freemode!

My Favorite Arena Car Freemode Memories

Let me share a few of my fondest memories causing chaos out in public Freemode sessions with these beastly Arena cars:

  • Doing an epic 15-minute cop chase weaving through the city and countryside in my spiked Apocalypse Imperator. I must have had a 5-star wanted level for most of it!

  • Crushing a griefer‘s precious supercar under the huge tires of my favorite Sasquatch monster truck. Sweet revenge!

  • Bursting out of the sewers and startling a car meet in my future tech ZR380 as they admired each other‘s paint jobs. Priceless reactions!

  • Equipping kinetic mines on my Cerberus and watching pursuing enemies hilariously flip through the air when hitting them at top speed.

So those are just a few of the amazing experiences you can have with these machines outside the arena. Let me know if you have any other questions, and get ready to cause some beautifully chaotic Freemode havoc, my friend!
