On my never-ending hunt to find products that transform lackluster skin, a new skincare brand called Evenprime recently caught my eye. With its beautiful packaging and promises for amazing results, I eagerly added a few serums and cleansers to cart.

But did this rising star brand deliver? Or is Evenprime just another Instagram-worthy fail? Keep reading for my full review!

## Quick Profile: What is Evenprime Skincare?

Launched in 2017 by founder Koh Kim, Santa Monica-based Evenprime marries K-beauty inspiration with clean ingredients. Their products aim to simplify skincare for the gaming generation with cute, gender-neutral packaging.

The Evenprime line covers all basics like cleansers, serums and moisturizers. Hot sellers include:

- Hypernova Eye Serum
- Barrier Serum
- Gel Cleanser
- Daily Moisturizer

What initially drew me in was the straightforward routines for men, women and various skin types. As someone still figuring out my ever-changing oily yet dry and acne-prone skin, this seemed perfect!

I also appreciated the vegan, cruelty-free commitment focusing on clean ingredients. But did these basic products deliver transformational results? Or just fancy packaging with ineffective formulas?

Time to dig deeper!

**My skin type:** Combo/oily, occasional hormonal breakouts, some dryness/texture

**My skin goals:** Reduce breakouts, large pores and redness while adding glow, smooth texture and long-lasting hydration

Let‘s analyze if Evenprime suited my needs…

## Analyzing Key Evenprime Skincare Ingredients

Diving into the bestselling serums and cleansers, I first scanned the ingredients lists with a critical eye.

As an avid skincare ingredient researcher with over a decade of obsession…I mean _experience_, I know the gold standard active ingredients achieving real transformations. Could these formulas match my lofty expectations? Let‘s explore.

### Judging the Hypernova Eye Serum

This peptide eye serum promises brighter, smoother and less puffy eyes. All great in theory! But diving into the formula had me questioning if the concentration was enough to truly tackle tired eyes.

Key actives included:

- **Caffeine** (2%): This mild diuretic can temporarily reduce under eye puffiness and dark circles related to poor circulation. But most research shows 5%+ is ideal for visibly obvious shrinking effects. So at 2%, I doubt major puff-reducing magic.
- **Green tea extract**: Packed with antioxidants to combat free radicals from UV exposure which degrade collagen over time. But the unspecified concentration here may not equal most proven anti-aging eye creams packing 10-20%.
- **Banana fruit extract:** Yes…like the fruit. But bananas contain magnesium and antioxidants that offer hydration without irritating delicate under eyes. This can help smooth fine lines.

Overall some nice supporting ingredients. But lacking the knockout clinical concentrations of heavy hitters that typically transform eyes plagued by genetic dark circles, stubborn puffiness and wrinkles.

I gave it a shot, but wasn‘t expecting miracles.

### Evaluating the Barrier Serum

My moisture barrier BEGGED for some extra TLC. So the Barrier Serum seemed like a godsend with its hydrating hyaluronic acid, soothing centella asiatica and skin-strengthening ceramides.

- **Hyaluronic acid:** This moisture magnet can hold 1000x its weight in water to hydrate skin. But too many sizes may prevent effective absorption. Evenprime contains five different weights – likely overdoing it! Sticking to 1-2 is ideal.
- **Ceramides:** These lipid molecules reinforce the moisture barrier to prevent water loss. But without cholesterol or fatty acids to hold them in place, many ceramides fail to properly fill barrier cracks.
- **Centella asiatica:** This medicinal herb soothes inflammation that compromises delicate skin. So excellent for easing redness! But concentration must be 0.5-1% for visible soothing and collagen boosting. No way to know if Barrier Serum meets that bar.

I love hyaluronic acid and centella for hydration and calming. But this overly complex ceramide situation looked questionable. Fingers crossed they perform well together!

### Gauging the Gel Cleanser

My spots HATE foaming cleansers that strip and dry. So a no-frills gel cleanser intrigued me with its gentle botanical surfactants and skin-soothing panthenol (vitamin B5).

- **Coconut-derived surfactants:** These vegetable-based cleansers lift dirt, oil and makeup without parching dry zones or damaging moisture barriers. Less irritating for temperamental complexions like mine!
- **Panthenol:** This ultra-hydrating humectant draws in and binds moisture to smooth and plump skin. Most effective above 3-5% – so I hoped for good placement in that ingredient list!

In theory, it checked my boxes. Fingers crossed for happy skin after washing!

### Sizing Up the Daily Moisturizer

A solid daily moisturizer tailor-made for oily skin sounded brilliant. My T-zone shines by lunchtime if I don‘t prep just right. So I loved this simple, oil-control formula with some bonus antioxidants.

- **Hyaluronic acid:** Our old friend returns to provide hydration without greasiness – perfect for shiny zones!
- **Centella asiatica extract:** Not only soothing, but this also shows potential to regulate excess sebum production.
- **Licorice root extract:** Natural brightener to fade previous acne marks and even tone/texture.

I felt hopeful this fast-absorbing moisturizer could mattify while softening and protecting! No excess oils or comedogenic ingredients flagged as risky for breakout-prone peeps.

**_So those rundowns gave me an idea which products seemed promising…and which had formulation issues that would likely limit results. On to testing!_**

## My Testing Process and Results After 2 Months of Use

With high hopes, I incorporated my stash of new Evenprime bestsellers into my usual skincare routine. How would these social media darlings perform IRL for my finicky oily yet dehydrated skin?

Twice a day for over two months, I cleansed then applied serums followed by moisturizer. For acne, I occasionally swapped serums for spot treatment.

But did Evenprime wow me with transformational results? Or leave me worse off?

Here goes!

### The Hypernova Eye Serum Fell Short

I diligently applied this peptide potion morning and night hoping to see:

✅ Diminished dark circles
 ✅ Depuffed under eyes
 ✅ Smoothed fine lines

Unfortunately, I noticed no huge improvements even after 8+ weeks of continuous use.

After two months:

- Dark circles seemed possibly slightly lighter. But difficult to tell compared to other eye creams delivering dramatic brightening and color correcting effects.
- Oddly, some areas appeared more hollow and sunken looking. Likely due to ineffective peptide/caffeine concentrations failing to substantially plump skin.
- Fine lines unchanged. My dynamic wrinkles likely require much heavier hitting retinoids vs peptides.

So in summation – subpar results compared to leading eye formulas. On to the next!

### The Barrier Serum Hydrated…But Also Blocked Pores

Heading into winter, I knew my skin desperately needed barrier repair and moisture. And at first, the Barrier Serum delivered!

Within days, my flaky dry patches and tightness disappeared. I noticed a smoother texture and supple feel.

But within two weeks, I noticed new congestion and breakouts. Odd since none of those ingredients typically clog pores.

Yet the heavy hyaluronic acid seemed to pull other products deeper into pores, blocking them. Multiple painful under the skin zits emerged on my chin and cheeks over the following month.

Not an ideal scenario for my breakout-prone skin! So I sadly destashed this serum to stop the new regular pimples.

### The Gel Cleanser Dried My Skin 🫤

As a huge gel cleanser advocate, Evenprime‘s coconut-derived, fragrance-free formula seemed perfect for my picky skin.

And the first few days felt great! It refreshed skin without any tell-tale tight or squeaky feeling.

But after week two, dry flaky patches reemerged on my cheeks and jawline. The cleanser now stung and irritated those areas, exacerbating redness.

My moisture barrier felt totally disrupted again. And the temporary boost from their Barrier Serum now stirred up breakouts.

Clearly this gel cleanser just couldn‘t provide enough lasting hydration despite the claims. Into the trash after a month!

### The Daily Moisturizer Made Me Greasy!

Oily skin folks – raise your hand if lotions often look like grease pools by midday! 🙋‍♀️Yeah, same. My high-maintenance T-zone requires mattifying formulas that won‘t congest pores.

So Evenprime‘s Daily Moisturizer with oil-control properties seemed like the solution.

The first few days glowed gorgeously without any grease or white cast. But rapidly I resembled a disco ball by noon – face dripping in places I typically stay matte.

This also caused makeup to separate and fade unevenly. And despite the licorice and centella, my cheeks somehow looked more red and irritated too.

Clearly the简单的成分没有控制油如预期。My pores clogged and I broke out across my forehead – no bueno! 👎

---

So in summary, while affordably priced with clean ingredients – **Evenprime failed to deliver results for my skin type.**

The lackluster formulations couldn‘t outperform my usual serums and moisturizers tailored for temperamental, breakout-prone skin needing moisture without clogging.

Maybe those with resilient normal/balanced skin will see more benefits. But for tricky skin conditions, these just can‘t compete with specifically targeted brands prescribed by dermatologists and estheticians.

**I wanted to love this brand catering to my generation with simple routines for our on-the-go lifestyles. _Sigh_ – back to the drawing board!**

## Evenprime Review: Analyzing What Went Wrong

Where precisely did Evenprime go wrong for my skin? Let‘s break it down product-by-product.

### Too Low Percentages of Key Actives

A common theme across all Evenprime bestsellers was seemingly solid ingredients. But formulations likely used lower concentrations to avoid irritation for the mass market.

While positive for sensitive skin, those percentages fell short for treating my more stubborn issues like dark circles, breakouts and dehydration.

For example, the 2% caffeine, unspecified green tea percent and peptides unlikely reached therapeutic levels needed for puffy eyes. And the barrier serum‘s ceramide blend lacked the right precursors and ratios to strengthen my compromised moisture barrier.

### Missing Key Supporting Ingredients

Along with lower actives concentrations, some products lacked complementary ingredients for enhanced performance.

The barrier serum overloaded with multiple weights of hyaluronic acid rather than selecting 1-2 ideal sizes paired with skin-identical lipids. And the daily moisturizer contained no emollients or occlusives to retain hydration.

### Formulas Too Simple For My Skin Type

Evenprime emphasizes minimal, straightforward routines for predominantly normal/balanced skin types without major issues. Products avoid potential irritants like fragrance and oils which I greatly appreciate!

However, the stripped down approach left formulations ineffective for my very temperamental combination skin. Without specific oils to lock in moisture or targeted antioxidants and peptides, serums failed to properly hydrate and treat issues like redness.

And the Daily Moisturizer intended for oily skin didn‘t sufficiently mattify and control sebum for my extremely shiny T-zone. Causing breakouts instead!

**_So for uncomplicated skin, these basics may provide adequate maintenance and protection. But those with tricky skin concerns need targeted solutions mixing science-backed actives at therapeutic dosages._**

Which brings me to…

## Some Better Skincare Brands For My Skin Type

Clearly my clog-prone yet dehydrated skin needs extra TLC beyond Evenprime‘s capabilities.

After sampling dozens of brands over the years, these complex formulas transform my skin‘s texture, breakouts and hydration week after week:

### 1. Paula‘s Choice Skincare

Their clinical calming range with marine algae means no redness or stinging. And the ultra-light hydrating gel moisturizer gives me glow without grease. My skin feels beyond soothed and supple!

**Best for:** Sensitive, reactive skin prone to redness and dryness. Also terrific acne formulas.

### 2. First Aid Beauty

Chock full of colloidal oatmeal, shea butter and hydrating hyaluronic acid, First Aid Beauty products comfort yet don‘t congest my pores. The gorgeous glassy skin results make my face feel impossibly smooth.

**Best for:** Dryness, eczema, aging skin needing rich nourishment without heaviness.

### 3. Peace Out Skincare

When monthly hormonal acne strikes, these targeted dark spot dots and blemish balms heal pimples FAST while preventing scarring. The retinol eye sticks also refresh tired, lined eyes better than most eye creams!

**Best for:** Acne-prone skin, dark spots/scarring, fine lines.

So for my finicky combination skin, I prefer mixing targeted treatments like:

- Facial oils to lubricate without clogging
- Gel/water creams to hydrate minus grease
- Spot treatments for breakouts
- Retinoids and vitamin C for anti-aging

Rather than one-size-fits all items from Evenprime.

## Final Evenprime Review Verdict: Should You Buy?

If you made it this far, thanks for sticking around for my brutally honest Evenprime review! 😅 After months of testing, do I recommend buying their bestselling products?

**_It depends on your unique skin chemistry and needs._**

For uncomplicated, predominantly normal skin without major issues, Evenprime offers an approachable basic routine. Those new to beauty overwhelmed by lengthy product regimens may appreciate the simplicity.

**But if you struggle with conditions like acne, discoloration or dehydration – these likely won‘t supersede specialized solutions.** The lower actives concentrations cater more towards maintenance than treating moderate-severe skin concerns.

Many rave Evenprime reviews show fabulous results for some. But my clog-prone yet dry skin demands targeted, multifaceted formulas beyond their single note offerings. And the gel/water textures don‘t provide enough rich emollients that my skin drinks up.

So in the end – I‘ll be passing on restocking from this brand marketed as by a gamer for gamers. The packaging totally caters to my millennial demographic. _Sigh…_ But the contents inside unfortunately fell flat for my goals.

I SO wanted to love this affordable, cruelty-free brand! But for anyone struggling with breakouts, dryness and irritation – proceed with realistic expectations about these formulas‘ simplicity.

Maybe one day I‘ll revisit if they expand the line with products targeting acne, oil control and brightening. But for now – my quest for holy grail items better suited to my tricky skin type continues!

Have you tried Evenprime skincare yourself? Let me know your experiences in the comments! I‘d love to hear your reviews.
