Soaring Across the Highlands: My Journey Unlocking Flight in Hogwarts Legacy
As an entrepreneur and gaming enthusiast, I live for immersive open world adventures. So when Hogwarts Legacy brought flying brooms to the Wizarding World, I knew magical new frontiers awaited across the misty Highlands surrounding the castle.
Yet brooms don’t come easy in these lands. After many hours questing, racing dangerous witches, and pouring hard-earned Galleons into this hands-on guide, I can now share the secrets of unlocking free flight.
Strap in friends – a whole new side of Hogwarts awaits on outstretched wings!
Step 1 – Taming Wild Brooms: Surviving Flying Class
Like all good adventures, attaining the sky begins with learning liftoff…and first crashing straight into the ground!
Easing into my first flying lesson with Professor Kagwa
Professor Kagwa runs a tight Flying Class unit. Mount the aged Cleansweep broom with shaking hands, then slowly steer through floating rings, remembering:
PlayStation: LEFT ANALOG STICK guides direction
Xbox & PC: WASD Keys control broom movement
Suddenly you’re 20 feet aloft chasing gold ring bubbles for speed bursts! Just don‘t end up plastered across the greenhouse glass like yours truly…
Master basic controls in Flying Class before facing the final exam: a diabolical broom course across Hogwarts testing evasive maneuvers, pinpoint navigation, and nerves of steel:
Kagwa‘s extreme broom gauntlet thoroughly tests your skills
After finally conquering Kagwa’s Crucible, she rewards the surviving students with a breathtaking…and wonderfully relaxing…broom tour of Hogwarts castle, gently guided by the reassuring hand of Everett Clopton.
Take a well deserved scenic tour of the iconic grounds. Just avoid staring downhundreds of feetat the terrified first years below!

Step 2: Shopping Sprees Yield a Treasured Broom
Passing flight school opens Hogsmeade village for unbridled broom shopping! Visit Spinwitches Sporting Goods and greet the premier broom specialist, Albie Weekes.
Chatty merchant Albie Weekes offers advice…at a price
Weekes proudly sells 13 distinct brooms ranging 600-1200 Galleons. Models include:
- Cleansweep 11: A classic racer
- Nimbus 1700: Iconic style
- Bluebottle: Stylish and stable
- Swiftstick: Top acceleration
- Moontrimmer: Elite handling
Luckily I discovered Eye Chests packed with coins across the world, fueling my broom obsession. My personal favorite ride? The Starlet 60 – effortlessly stylish.
All brooms share similar speed and control, so choose your preferred aesthetic and take off into the open world!

Step 3 – Upgrading Brooms into Racing Thoroughbreds
Stock brooms serve fine for transportation. But unlocking higher speed and responsiveness required besting broom champion Imelda Reyes in an airborne race.
Imelda awaits riders by the Quidditch Stadium for a friendly wager. Brave her brutal aerial course snaking over the Black Lake to remote mountain valleys. Nimble flying and well-timed speed boosts through giant rings provides victory!

Somehow I achieved the impossible and touched back down BEFORE Imelda. This unlocked Weekes’ Broom Upgrade 1 back at his Hogsmeade shop, providing:
- 10% increased speed and acceleration
- Vibrant trail effects in House colors
- Engravings on the broom handle
Further upgrade quests involve outracing the smug Quarrelsome Queen and swindling swindler Bilius Finbok. But with upgraded Starlet in hand, I fear no competition in these magical skies!

Step 4: Taking My Upgraded Broom to Dizzying Heights!
Now fully unlocked, I employed my swift customized broom exploring every corner of the Highlands unfettered by earthbound worries. Along the way I:
- Zipped up treacherous mountain peaks gathering rare ingredients
- Spotted glittering treasure vaults on remote islands
- Chased owl post parcels over windswept forests
- Discovered hidden caves filled with sinister secrets!
My trusty Starlet and I methodically comb the misty Highlands
No longer confined to land roaming, my entrepreneurial pursuits also thrive having full aerial access. Merlin’s Motley Outfitters offers premium delivery services across the realm…by broom of course!
So don’t just walk through Hogwarts Legacy – FLY and unlock new adventures at speed! This guide illuminates the path, but broom skills grow sharpest through hard-won experience.
Now tighten those riding gloves my friends! Together we’ll tame these magical skies!
