Fallout 4: How I Got Curie as My Companion and You Can Too!
As a post-apocalyptic explorer with over 800 hours in Fallout 4, I‘ve recruited every possible companion, but Curie remains one of my consistent favorites.
In my extensive wanderings, I uncovered valuable insights on locating this hidden companion, gaining her trust, and maximizing her capabilities once she joins your squad.
So if you want the inside scoop on transforming Curie from an isolated robot into a dynamic, humanized ally, read on! I’ll provide detailed walkthroughs from my own experience getting Curie as a companion.
Step 1: Gaining Access to Vault 81
Curie resides deep in Vault 81‘s medical bay, initially visible only behind a locked window. Here‘s how I first accessed her area:
First chat with Austin at Vault 81‘s entrance and ask for a tour. He leads you to his friend Erin who requests help finding her lost cat, Ashes. This begins the “Here Kitty, Kitty” quest.
While searching rooms, I learned that Austin snuck into Vault 81’s secret lower levels and got attacked by mole rats. I followed Erin’s directions into the dark basement corridors, battling through waves of aggressive enemies until I discovered Ashes.
With the cat recovered, I returned him to Erin then went back downstairs. The path to Curie‘s room now stood open!
Pro Tip: Complete Erin‘s cat quest before attempting the secret vault. That unlocks access to Curie‘s locked room afterwards.
Step 2: Assisting Curie and Gaining Her Trust
My first conversation with Curie activated the “Hole in the Wall” quest. She asked me to deliver research materials to Doctor Forsythe for curing Austin’s mystery illness.
After meeting with the doctor and crafting the curative, I injected Austin with the antibiotic. His recovery completed “Hole in the Wall,” making Curie extremely appreciative. She rewarded me with a targeting system bonus.
Her research hunger grew intense in isolation, so Curie requested leaving the vault with me. I eagerly escorted her upstairs to the entrance, where she bid Vault 81 farewell.
Affinity Boosting Opportunity: Helping Austin and enabling Curie’s escape gives big affinity boosts here!
Step 3: Unlocking Curie’s Synth Body
Even with her newfound freedom, Curie felt limited by her floating robot form. So upon reaching max affinity, her next conversation revealed an fervent wish—to transfer her consciousness into a more capable synth vessel!
I traveled with Curie to visit Doctor Amari in Goodneighbor‘s Memory Den. Amari prepared a wiped Synth body for Curie‘s mind to inhabit. After a day passed, I returned to check the procedure‘s success.
Curie in her customized Synth wore a huge smile, overflowing with excitement about her upgraded senses and expanded mobility. She修改d her appearance to better blend into human communities while retaining all core memories and knowledge.
Romance Chance: That synth body conversation also starts unlocking flirtatious affinity dialog options!
Step 4 (Optional): Romancing Curie
I invested tons of time boosting affinity to deepen my bond with Curie. After her synth procedure, the flirt option eventually evolved into confessing love, so I went for it!
But I first needed 8+ Charisma for the speech check. I used clothing, beer, and Daytripper to temporarily get there. Passing this check prompted Curie to hesitantly kiss me, kindling our romantic chemistry.
We can now sleep together for the precious "Lover’s Embrace" perk! It grants +15% XP for 8 hours—extremely valuable for fast leveling characters like mine.
I also persuaded Curie to become a medic for even more bonus perks. Her health-boosting abilities now benefit my whole wandering party!
Expert Tip: Temporary charisma boosts from gear/chems offset speech checks needed for romance!
The Takeaway
Based on my extensive Fallout 4 experience, I highly recommend undertaking Curie’s intricate companion quests.
The prizes of her unique perks and evolving synth storyline make the effort supremely rewarding! I‘m happy to offer more specific tips if anyone needs extra guidance chasing down this beloved hidden companion.
