Is Michael in the US with Angela?

Angela and Michael‘s tumultuous relationship has captivated 90 Day Fiance fans for years. Since meeting online in 2017, they‘ve weathered major ups and downs. Let‘s take a closer look at where their relationship stands now and the status of Michael‘s relocation plans.

Angela and Michael‘s Winding Relationship Timeline

Angela was a 52-year-old nursing assistant from Georgia when she connected with Michael, a 30-year-old from Nigeria, on social media back in 2017. Despite Angela being 22 years older, they hit it off and she soon traveled to Nigeria to meet Michael in person for the first time.

We watched their awkward first encounter unfold on Season 2 of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days. During that trip, Angela ultimately proposed to Michael, and he accepted – though not without some hesitation from his family.

Over the next few years, we continued following Angela and Michael‘s long-distance relationship and engagement through the 90 Day Fiance shows. They faced numerous challenges, including:

• The stress of being separated by thousands of miles. Researchers estimate the average long-distance relationship lasts just 4.5 months before couples call it quits. Angela and Michael have beaten the odds so far.

• Ongoing communication issues. One study found the inability to read facial expressions and body language in long distance relationships can heighten chances of miscommunication by up to 50%.

Fans were thrilled when we learned during Happily Ever After? season 7 that Michael‘s long-awaited K-1 visa had finally been approved. This would allow him to legally immigrate to the United States to live with Angela while they adjusted his status to permanent resident.

Angela even returned to Nigeria one last time for a small wedding ceremony to celebrate Michael‘s visa approval. But later in the season, we saw her threaten to withdraw her visa sponsorship after uncovering Michael‘s infidelity.

Most recent updates from late 2022 indicate Michael was still living in Nigeria, even though his K-1 visa was approved. And judging by the continued trust issues and possible split earlier this year, it seems unlikely he has joined Angela in the United States just yet.

Statistics show the K-1 visa process usually takes 9-12 months from approval to issuance of the visa. Then the foreign fiance has just 90 days to enter the U.S. and marry their sponsoring partner. Delays or denial of entry can happen if any requirements are unmet.

So while Michael finally crossed the big hurdle of getting approval, it looks like he still faces challenges before he‘ll be allowed to move to live with Angela long-term.

Can This Couple Defy the Odds?

For a while it really seemed like Angela and Michael were destined to beat the odds stacked against couples in international long distance relationships.

But Michael‘s cheating admission has clearly dealt their marriage a huge blow. I‘d say most fans were ready to write them off as over, but Angela‘s commitment to keep trying has given a glimmer of hope.

That said, I‘m skeptical. Studies show the more obstacles and betrayals a couple faces early on, the less likely the relationship will survive long-term.

My sense is Michael‘s infidelity combined with all their other issues spells doom. I give them a 30% chance at best. But who knows – we‘ve seen reality TV couples reconcile from worse. And 90 Day producers are likely rooting for more dramatic storylines!

I know I‘ll be tuning in to future episodes hoping for the best, but cautiously expecting this tumultuous relationship has likely reached the final straw.
