Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Rec Center

Here are some of my top tips for making the most of the EKU Rec Center as a student:

Take Group Fitness Classes

The Rec Center offers over 15 free weekly fitness classes like yoga, cycling, Zumba, martial arts, and more! It‘s a fun way to work out and meet friends.

Try Personal Training

The personal trainers can create customized workout plans and teach you how to use equipment properly. Rates are reasonable for students.

Climb the Rock Wall

The 28-foot rock wall is a blast if you‘re up for the challenge! Attend a belay course and start climbing.

Join Intramurals

Stay active and social through intramural sports like volleyball, flag football, soccer, and more! Create a team with friends.

Swim Laps

It‘s a great low-impact workout. Lane availability varies, so check the pool schedule before going.

Workout With Friends

You‘ll keep each other motivated! Plus having a spotter for weightlifting is safer.

Explore All Equipment

Try out the various cardio machines, weight stations, and free weights to switch up your routine.

Utilize Lockers

Bring your own lock to secure larger items during workouts. Safer than leaving bags in public areas.

Fuel Up After

Replenish carbs and protein within 30 minutes post-workout by bringing a shake or snack.

Stretch Thoroughly

Always warm up and cool down with at least 10 minutes of full-body stretching for injury prevention.

Stay Hydrated

Bring a large water bottle. Hydration is crucial during exercise.

Have Fun!

The Rec Center has an awesome community of active students. Enjoy yourself while working out and don‘t forget to smile!
