Minimal Green Distressing Processes
Lee claims 20% of their denim now uses recycled water in the wash/dye process and sustainable Tencel fabrics. But indigo dyeing remains a water intensive process not fully optimized for eco-impact across the product line.
And while ozone treatments produce popular light destroy washes, it depletes our ozone layer. Jill, one tester said: "I prefer jeans with wear-and-tear character but hate the thought of more pollution created to fake that. Wish Lee offered more jeans laser finished without chemicals."
