The Top 15 Best Cards in Marvel Snap

Marvel Snap has taken the collectible card game genre by storm with its fast-paced gameplay, gorgeous art style, and huge roster of iconic Marvel characters. With over 150 unique cards to collect, players have an enormous amount of strategic options to build competitive decks.

But some cards clearly outshine others in terms of raw power, utility, and synergy potential. I‘ve played and analyzed the meta extensively since launch, and these are my picks for the 15 strongest Marvel Snap cards you should be using whenever possible.

1. Iron Man

Iron Man card

Type: Ongoing Effect

Power: 0

Cost: 5

Ability: Double this location‘s total Power.

Despite having 0 power himself, Iron Man‘s doubling ability makes him an auto-include in many decks. Doubling an entire location‘s power each turn is such insane value that he regularly swings games by 10+ power. His high cost is easier to play around with good economy cards like White Tiger.

Iron Man shines in midrange and control decks that develop a single high-power location over several turns. Combo him with other ongoing power buffs like Professor X for even more doubling shenanigans. He enables OTK combos with Hela and guaratees a domination in the late game.

2. Thor

Thor card

Type: On Reveal Effect

Power: 4

Cost: 3

Ability: Add a 0-cost Mjolnir with +6 Power to your hand.

Thor brings amazing stand-alone stats in addition to tutoring his iconic hammer. A 4/3 curve already passes the efficiency benchmark, and Mjolnir pushes this package to 10 power for 3 energy! That type of tempo swing is really hard to beat.

Because Mjolnir has 0 cost, you can easily weave Thor into early-game or mid-game hands and still guarantee value. Many Thor decks also run Storm and Angela to chain card draw and reactive threats. An elegant self-contained engine for any archetype.

3. Agent Coulson

Agent Coulson card

Type: On Reveal Effect

Power: 1

Cost: 3

Ability: +1 Power for each card you played this game.

Don‘t let the low base power fool you. A well-curved Coulson regularly reaches 6+ power by the late game. With no limitation on triggered effects, his scaling outpaces almost every other buff card.

Coulson fits into any midrange or control list looking to play the long game. You‘ll get incrementals from cheap cards early before slamming major threats later. Consider combining with card draw like the Colleen Wing + Misty Knight combo to churn through your deck faster.

4. Blue Marvel

Blue Marvel card

Type: Ongoing Effect

Power: 7

Cost: 7

Ability: Your cards at this location can‘t have their Power reduced below 1.

Blue Marvel boasts one of the highest natural power levels in Marvel Snap and comes with an extremely potent protective ability. Getting guaranteed value against opponent disruption makes him ideal for proactively developing a single location.

He really shines in aggressive lists that buff a location over time like Zoo strategies. Your opponent can no longer remove your threats cleanly after Blue Marvel hits the field. His high stats also enable game-winning burst from cards like Hela.

5. Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom card

Type: On Reveal Effect

Power: 10

Cost: 6

Ability: If you have more cards here than your opponent, destroy the enemy location across from this one.

Doom brings massive power for his cost and the potential to blow up 1/3 of your opponent‘s board. His ability fundamentally changes how the match plays out by forcing your opponent to always match the card parity.

As long as you have other mid-cost cards for support, Doom can carry a location almost single-handedly. Just be mindful of getting blasted back by your opponent‘s own Doom play. You‘ll need to win the mind game of placement to maximize his value.

6. Death

Death card

Type: Cost Reduction Effect

Power: 12

Cost: 9

Ability: Costs 1 less for each card destroyed this game.

Despite the hefty baseline energy cost, Death‘s ability enables some of the most powerful swing turns in Marvel Snap. Wiping multiple cards then slamming a 12/9 threat for half price is perfectly viable in destruction-heavy pools like Hela.

Death should be every control player‘s late-game finisher of choice. She dodges most removal like Carnage and doesn‘t care about ongoing effects or stat manipulation. Just be mindful of getting hit by a Collector counter-bomb after you play her!

7. Odin

Odin card

Type: On Reveal Effect

Power: 4

Cost: 7

Ability: Set this location‘s Power to 12 if you have another card here.

Odin flips the script by being a decent mid-curve play that transforms into a late-game nuke. If you already have a unit parked, paying 7 for 12 power is an absolute steal. This ability invalidates your opponent‘s investments into a rival location.

Given the potency of his swing potential, Odin fits as a control/combo finisher after you‘ve built up a board over several turns. Just be wary of leaving him alone on the board early without support. Losing your whole hand is a real risk if you misplay him.

8. Leader

Leader card

Type: On Reveal / Destroyed Effects

Power: 1

Cost: 5

Ability 1: +1 Power for each card in your hand.

Ability 2: When this is destroyed, all your cards get +1 Power.

This unassuming 1-power character has incredible scaling utility through the two best keywords in Marvel Snap – card draw and destruction. His hand buff turns spare cards into direct power, while the destroy effect fuels wide board pumps.

Leader turbo-charges any discard or destruction deck with extra incidental value. You can build huge card advantage engines with Killmonger or Apocalpyse, cash in for a bunch of power, then still get more value from dying. He‘s extremely versatile support.

9. Nova

Nova card

Type: On Reveal Effect

Power: 3

Cost: 4

Ability: Add a random Cosmic card to your hand. It costs (2) less.

Nova provides solid standalone power for his cost while tutoring a cheap Cosmic card from your deck. Thinning your collection and curving out smoothly makes him ideal for higher synergy pools.

His ability enables more consistent performance from combo pieces like The Infinaut orCollector. Tutoring those bombs earlier offsets their normally steep costs. Even whiffing into a cheaper Bodyguard or Nebula can provide enough value.

10. Wong

Wong card

Type: On Reveal Effect

Power: 1

Cost: 2

Ability: Add a random Mystic card to your hand. It costs (1) less.

Similar to Nova, Wong smooths your draws by fetching a cheaper Mystic card directly into hand. The fewer dead picks in your deck, the more consistently you‘ll hit needed combo pieces each match.

Wong himself also provides extra combo fodder as an efficient one-drop unit. Play him early to fill a lane before using his tutor effect later to set up a massive Doctor Strange or Iron Fist turn. Superb value all around.

11. Sunspot

Sunspot card

Type: On Reveal Effect

Power: 2

Cost: 3

Ability: If you reveal a card that costs 6 or more next turn, this gets +3 Power.

Sunspot supplies early pressure that conditionally buffs itself for extreme mid-game threat potential. If you ramp into expensive cards, he really punishes opponents for not respecting the pressure.

As long as you actively advance your man and play major cards in the pool, Sunspot adds both proaction and reaction to your game plan. Force awkward trades from your opponent or get huge surprise buffs mid-combat. Great flexibility.

12. Jubilee

Jubilee card

Type: Ongoing Effect

Power: 3

Cost: 3

Ability: Adjacent cards have +1 Power.

Jubilee brings respectable standalone power and perpetually buffs all neighboring allies. Her lane support ability leads to some of the scariest board states when doubled up on a location.

Don‘t underestimate the value of a single power either – it turns otherwise inefficient trades into profitable ones. Squirrel Girl, Hobgoblin, and other token strategies love the persistent pump effect. Jubilee really enables going wide.

13. White Tiger

White Tiger card

Type: On Reveal Effect

Power: 3

Cost: 0

Ability: Add a random 1-Cost card to your hand. It costs (0) this game.

A 3/0 beatstick that tutors free cards every single match. White Tiger enables such smooth opening curves and constantly refills your tank with gas. No surprise that she‘s especially vital for higher curve decks.

Her cost reduction effect also unlocks creative combo chains that normally wouldn‘t be possible. Cast White Tiger into a free Ant-Man into a free Jubilee for a huge early threat for example. Very versatile!

14. The Hood

The Hood card

Type: On Reveal / Ongoing Effects

Power: 2

Cost: 3

Ability 1: Draw a card.

Ability 2: Your cards at this location cost (1) less.

The Hood supplies early body, card draw, and a permanent area discount at an efficient rate. That degree of value creation keeps your plays on curve while reloading your hand for later.

As far as supporting cast goes, few can enable more consistent turns than Hood. His discount stacks with other cost manipulators like White Tiger for free reign to dump your hand. Supercharge any midrange or control gameplan.

15. Spectrum

Spectrum card

Type: On Reveal Effect

Power: 2

Cost: 1

Ability: Add a random Ongoing card to your hand.

Spectrum has lackluster combat stats, but her support power to find key ongoing effects makes her a must-have one drop. Grabbing extra Iron Man, Jubilee, or Professor X doubles your consistency finding needed combo pieces.

Every deck wants to activate their synergies and stick board buffs when possible. Spectrum tutors those force multiplier directly into your hand. Just don‘t forget that you need spare resources to actually play them the same turn!

Hopefully this breakdown gives newer Marvel Snap players a strong sense of the current best cards to abuse on the climb to Infinite ranks and beyond. Pay attention to these game-warping options whenever building new decks so you don‘t handicap yourself unnecessarily.

Powerful abilities and tutors that circumvent regular resource costs are extremely efficient. Lean on them whenever possible to tempo out opponents before they can match your board and card quality.
