Orienting Yourself
Upon entering, you‘ll find yourself on an arrow trap-lined bridge with a narrow safe zone in between volleys. We‘ll get to bypassing that soon – but first, navigating The Lament‘s winding passages can get disorienting.
Here is a quick orientation map I‘ve sketched from memory over repeated delves:

Bypassing the Entry Arrow Traps
Right after the entrance, a long bridge lined with alternating arrow trapsblocks your way forward. Getting past this gauntlet relies on timing and footwork:
- Hug the left wall initially, then strafe right when arrows start firing from the left side
- Continue strafing side to side to weave through the safe spaces between volleys
- Jump to avoid the floor trap plates
- Dodge incoming arrows and don‘t hesitate – pause too long and you‘ll get pinned down!
It may take a few tries to get the rhythm down – so don‘t worry if you get struck at first! Have patience and keep moving.
Eventually you‘ll reach a right turn, leading to a final set of arrows. Crouch here at calibrated intervals to sneak under their firing line. Then sprint into the next chamber!
There you‘ll find a chest with the "Elemental Resistance" relic. And more importantly, a floor lever opening the path forward when pulled. Now let‘s head deeper and locate some epic gear.
Solving the Symbol Tomb Puzzle
In the following chamber lies one of The Lament‘s notorious multi-part puzzles – starting with deciphering clues among arcane symbols to open the way to the Red Widow armor set.
Navigate left around the chamber‘s rim, dispatching or evading enemies along the way. In the rear left corner you‘ll see a drop-off into an illuminated pit lined with stone tombs. Jump on down.
Finding Each Symbol Match
Investigate each tomb until you find one bearing a Symbol, which matches the Symbol displayed prominently in the central pedestal altar.

- The tombs spawn randomly so scour them all
- Watch for hidden nooks that could obscure a tomb
- Note symbols as soon as you expose them to avoid losing track
Once you‘ve marked down all four matching symbols, it‘s time to unlock the door!
Entering the Symbols into the Pedestal
Climb back out of the tomb pit and approach the central pedestal. Activate it to bring up an interface with four empty symbol slots.
Refer to the symbols transcribed from the tombs, and place them into the pedestal interface in any order. With the final symbol entered, you‘ll hear an unlocking clank!
Head right from the pedestal to pass through the now-open ornate door, deeper into The Lament.
Obtaining the Red Widow Armor Set
Through the symbol door, the path leads left to a drop-down onto The Lament‘s lowest level – a potential boss arena. Enemies may immediately assault you, so be ready to fight or evade while locating exit routes.
Potential Wither Boss Encounter
As you descend, a dungeon boss named The Wither may spawn, though chance determines this. The ghoulish Wither wields a butcher‘s knife called Kolket‘s Razor.
If The Wither appears, keep on your toes and don‘t get surrounded! Its attacks are slow but hit brutally hard. Chip away while avoiding ambushing adds.
Felling The Wither nets you Kolket‘s Razor. Open your inventory and interact with it to form Kolket‘s Key – useful for later obstacles. For now, let‘s snag our Red Widow armor!
Navigating the Spiked Trap Hall
A nearby corridor leads left from the boss room, ending at a Rest area. Search nearby walls for a hidden section that gives way.
Follow the path down to halls lined with deadly spike traps on timers. Their sequence can be hard to gauge at first! Here is the reliable sequence I‘ve used to pass unscathed:
- Let the first left spike fully lower down
- Quickly sprint ahead of it before the right spikes trigger
- Keep running straight, strafing left or right to keep ahead of each approaching wall of spikes
- Don‘t panic or second guess! Confidently continue sprinting till you reach the far safe end!
Catch your breath before looting the waiting chest – containing that coveted Red Widow armor set!
This medium armor grants 88 armor and weighs 45. It also boasts:
- Moderate toxic/bleed/blight resistance
- High style points – clad yourself in vengeful widow vibes!
With new duds equipped, backtrack through the spiked hall using similar timing to reach the Rest area intact.
Locating the Floating Platform Puzzle
The last stretch of The Lament holds one final environmental puzzle. This one relies on perception and deduction to expose a hidden route forward.
Exit the previous zone through the symbol puzzle door and hang left. Fight through enemies when necessary, ultimately descending stairs to an eerie chamber with stone platforms…seemingly floating in mid air!
Approach the precarious gap to find only one of the three platforms bears an invisible bridge. Falling means returning to the last Rest, so let‘s safely deduce the correct path.
Determining the Hidden Walkway
I advise firing an arrow beneath each platform to detect which has an invisible bridge. Don‘t waste ammo – one arrow should suffice to reveal the telltale clang.
The true bridge platform spawns randomly per run. But once identified, traverse carefully across to stable ground. Continue forward similarly through two more gaps, firing arrows to determine the real connecting platforms.
Stay cool and vigilant here – one misstep means a long backtrack from the distant Rest. Eventually you‘ll come to – surprise – another locked door! But we now have just the key…
Unlocking the Final Barrier
This impassable door stands between you and The Lament‘s last reward. Luckily our spoils from besting The Wither boss provides the key…literally!
Open your inventory and use Kolket‘s Key on the door to finally breach this threshold. Within lies two chests along the side walls containing crafting items and the Ring of Diversion.
But more loot awaits! Keen-eyed delvers will spot a hidden path behind the entry door you opened. Follow the revealed stairs up to a hanging cage. Interact with it to claim your prize!
Obtaining the Lodestone Crown
Within this precarious hanging chest lies the Lodestone Crown – a historical helmet once worn in battle by King Kolket himself!

With the Crown claimed, you‘ve extracted all that The Lament currently has to offer! Not bad for surviving ancient deathtraps rigged by some long-lost cryptic clan.
