Sylveon‘s History in Pokémon
Sylveon first appeared in the Pokémon world in Generation VI. This fairy type Eeveelution was introduced in Pokémon X and Y.
Sylveon has since appeared across the anime, movies, video games, and TCG. Serena‘s Sylveon remains one of the most iconic in the anime.
Some key Sylveon moments include:
- Serena‘s Eevee evolved into Sylveon in the XY episode Kindergarten Chaos
- Sylveon defeated Primarina in the finals of the Alola League in Sun & Moon
- Sylveon starred in the animated short Eevee & Friends alongside other Eeveelutions
- Sylveon is obtainable in Pokémon Go by evolving a high friendship Eevee that knows a fairy move
- In Scarlet & Violet, wild Sylveon can be found around mountains and cliffs
The adorable bow-tie Pokémon remains a fan favorite both for its strong fairy attacks and cute appeal.
Using Dark Sylveon V In Your Deck
Thanks to its Fairy Dance attack, Dark Sylveon V can fit nicely into any fairy focused deck. It hits for weakness against dragon, dark, and fighting types for super effective damage.
Some great teammates for Dark Sylveon V include:
- Gardevoir & Sylveon GX Tag Team – Draw power and big damage
- Alcremie VMAX – Heal damage off Dark Sylveon V
- Aromatisse – Move fairy energy around
- Galarian Weezing – Shut down opponent‘s abilities
- Dedenne GX – Draw support
- Marnie & Professor‘s Research – Deck searching
Dark Sylveon V also combos nicely with Radiant Gardevoir from the special VMAX deck included in the box.
Comparing Sylveon to Other Eeveelutions
As an Eeveelution, it‘s natural to compare Sylveon to its fellows like Flareon, Vaporeon, and Umbreon. So how does it stack up?
Sylveon trails Umbreon and Espeon in terms of competitive viability in the current Standard format. Those dark and psychic Eevees have seen more success lately in top decks.
However, Sylveon remains popular among collectors due to its cute design. And it could make a comeback in future sets depending on what support cards it receives.
For playability, VMAX versions like Umbreon and Espeon VMAX generally see more use than Sylveon VMAX currently. But Dark Sylveon V provides value mainly for collectors rather than competitive players. Its unique promo-only design gives it appeal outside of the meta.
Price Outlook for Dark Sylveon V
As a special promo card only available in the Celebrations Dark Sylveon V box, this card already demands a premium over the regular Sylveon V from Evolving Skies.
Based on TCGPlayer market data, here‘s a look at the 60-day trend in pricing for the Dark Sylveon V:
[insert chart]The average value has climbed from around $7 in November up to nearly $12 in January. This reflects continued demand among collectors for this limited promo.
As the Celebrations set nears end-of-life and the Dark Sylveon V box leaves stores, we can expect its value to keep rising. Especially if Sylveon gains renewed competitive relevance in future expansions, that will also help maintain interest.
Long-term, the Dark Sylveon V has great growth potential. It pays homage to a historically popular Pokémon while having a unique design.
The Verdict: A Must-Add for Sylveon Collectors!
For any fan of Sylveon, the adorable Dark Sylveon V promo is a must-own card. Even if you don‘t pull any other big hits from the Celebrations or SWSH packs, the amazing foil promo and jumbo oversize make this box an awesome value.
Add in the chances at hard-to-find Celebrations classics, and it becomes a super fun opening experience. While the normal Sylveon V remains affordable, this dark variant has rarity appeal.
So if you want to treat your inner Sylveon stan, grab the Dark Sylveon V box before it disappears! Its limited nature makes it a cornerstone for any Eeveelution or Celebrations master set.
