## Is a 120Hz TV Worth It for Gaming?

For console gaming, an Xbox Series X and PS5 can take advantage of 4K 120fps. So a compatible 120Hz TV unlocks the full potential of these new consoles.

That said, a 60Hz TV is still fine for more casual gamers. Most Xbox and PlayStation games target 60fps or 30fps. So on a 60Hz display, they will look the same as on a 120Hz TV.

## What About 240Hz, 8K, and Beyond?

8K TVs are also arriving on the market. Since 8K has twice the horizontal and vertical resolution of 4K, it allows even greater picture detail and sharpness. However, there is currently minimal 8K content available. Only very high-end GPUs can render games at 8K resolution.

16K displays may arrive further down the road. But likely only for niche commercial applications given the extremely high processing power required.
