What Race is Moria in One Piece?

Hey friend! As a fellow One Piece fanatic, I know you‘re dying to dig deep into the question: What race is Gecko Moria? Well, you‘ve come to the right place!

Strap in as we embark on an epic quest to uncover the truth about one of the most sinister and mysterious characters in the entire One Piece universe.

Introducing the King of the Shadows

In case you need a refresher, here are some key facts about Moria:

• Former Warlord with a bounty of 320 million berries
• Captain of the zombie pirate crew Thriller Bark
• Possesses the Kage Kage no Mi devil fruit power
• Stole shadows to animate an army of zombies
• Fought against the Straw Hats during the Thriller Bark Arc

With his towering stature, blue skin, sharp teeth, and devilish powers, Moria might appear to be some kind of demonic entity. However, his true race has been shrouded in mystery. Until now!

Analyzing Moria‘s Distinct Physical Features

Let‘s break down Moria‘s unusual physical attributes to see if they provide any clues to his origins:

Height: Standing at 692 cm (22‘ 9"), Moria is freakishly tall even by One Piece standards. He towers over normal humans.

Skin Color: Moria‘s skin has a very distinctive pale blue coloration unlike any other character.

Horns: The small horns protruding from his forehead are highly reminiscent of traditional demonic features.

Teeth: His mouth is filled with razor-sharp fangs. Definitely not human teeth.

Eyes: Moria‘s eyes are sunken in and rimmed with black makeup, giving him a sinister grim reaper-like appearance.

Nails: His long, black nails resemble claws.

At first glance, these traits seem to suggest Moria may be some type ofdemon or monster rather than a normal human being. However, we can‘t judge a book by its cover in the crazy world of One Piece!

Evaluating Moria Against Other One Piece Races

Instead of jumping to conclusions, let‘s carefully compare Moria‘s attributes against known non-human races in One Piece to see if any match up:

Giants: While very large, Moria is nowhere near the 20+ meter heights of giants like Oars. So he‘s likely not a giant.

Fishmen: Moria lacks any fish-like qualities – no gills, fins, scales, etc. So he‘s not a fishman.

Minks: Minks have animal features like fur, tails, wings, horns, etc but Moria does not resemble any specific animal.

Longarms/Longlegs: Moria has normal human arm and leg lengths, ruling out these extra-limbed tribes.

Based on this analysis, Moria does not seem to fit into any established non-human race. That leaves just one possibility…

The Verdict – Moria is a Human!

That‘s right! Despite his intimidating and even demonic appearance, from a biological standpoint, Gecko Moria is a human being.

Though extremely tall, he shares basic humanoid anatomy and proportions. And he lacks any trademarks of the known One Piece races like enormous giant size, fishman aquatic adaptions, mink animal features, or additional long limbs.

Furthermore, creator Eiichiro Oda has directly classified Moria as human in official source material like Vivre Cards and data books. So that settles it!

Of course, this leads to the question – why does Moria look so strange compared to other humans?

Theories on Moria‘s Appearance

Here are some plausible theories that could explain Moria‘s irregular features:

Genetic Mutations – Certain lineages in One Piece like the Vinsmokes have enhanced abilities and appearances. Moria could have rare mutations.

Side Effects – Consuming the Kage Kage no Mi could have altered his body.

Artistic Design – Oda intentionally designed Moria to look devilish and ominous.

But the true reason remains a mystery!

Moria‘s Powers & Background

Regardless of why he looks the way he does, Moria remains one of the most formidable villains in One Piece. Here‘s a quick rundown of his powers and background:

• Possesses the Kage Kage no Mi which allows him to control shadows
• Can implant stolen shadows into corpses to create an army of zombies
• Former Warlord who rivaled Kaido in strength
• Lost his original crew to Kaido, motivating his obsession with zombies
• Battles against the Straw Hats resulted in him losing his Warlord status

Well, I hope this in-depth analysis finally sheds some light on the race and origins of the sinister Gecko Moria! Let me know if you have any other lingering questions. I could talk about One Piece all day! Stay curious my friend!
