What to do after reaching AR 45 in Genshin Impact: The Ultimate Guide

But with so many new options for artifacts, talents, ascensions and more – where should you focus first? As a seasoned Genshin player and analyst, let me walk you through how I optimized my progression at AR 45 and share some top tips to boost your Primogem heroes to their full potential!

Artifact Domains – Prioritize These First

Once I reached AR 45, the first thing I focused on was farming 5-star artifacts. The domains unlocked at this level guarantee you at least one 5-star artifact per 20 resin run.

Here are the ones I’d recommend prioritizing first for maximum DPS and support power:

• Viridescent Venerer – Anemo damage dealers like Xiao, Jean, Sucrose need this 4pc set. Increases anemo DMG by 60% and provides crowd control with its 4pc effect.

• Crimson Witch of Flames – Pyro DPS like Diluc, Hu Tao, Yoimiya really benefit from this 4pc set. Provides 15% pyro DMG and 22.5% melt/vaporize DMG bonuses.

• Heart of Depth – Allows hydro carries like Childe and Ayato to push their damage further. Increases hydro DMG by 30% and normal attack DMG by 30%.

• Husk of Opulent Dreams – Ideal for boosting DEF-scaling geo characters. Provides 30% DEF and 24% geo DMG at 4pc. Great for Itto, Noelle, Albedo.

• Emblem of Severed Fate – Powerful for burst/skill dependent supports like Xingqiu, Xiangling, Raiden. Gives 20% ER and 25% burst DMG at 4pc.

Make sure you’re equiping artifacts with the right main stats for each character role:

• Sands – ATK% for DPS, ER% for supports
• Goblet – Elemental DMG Bonus matching that character
• Circlet – CRIT Rate or DMG depending on what you need

Talents – Level Up These First

At AR 45 you should have a steady supply of talent books and materials. So I’d recommend taking key talents to 6-8 before ascending characters further.

Here are the talents I prioritized leveling up first for bigger DPS gains:

• Normal Attack – Main DPS characters like Ayaka, Yoimiya, Razor
• Elemental Skill – Sub DPS/support like Fischl, Beidou, Xingqiu
• Elemental Burst – Burst spam supports like Xiangling, Mona, Raiden

I crowned the most important talent for my main DPS characters first, like Ayaka’s normal attacks. Supports are fine with 1-8 talents at this stage.

Character Level Goals

Ascending your characters to 80/90 should be a top priority at AR 45 for that sweet stat boost. Here’s what I aimed for first:

• Main DPS to 80/90 for max ascension stat
• Supports to 70/80 until I built my main teams
• Eventually get supports to 80/90 for more HP/DEF if needed

Leveling characters from 80 to 90 takes a ton of books and mora. I’d only recommend 90/90 for your absolute favorite main if you really want to maximize their power.

Here’s how many materials you need per character to go from 80 to 90:

Start Farming 5-Star Artifacts

At AR 45 you should be spending most of your daily resin on 5-star artifacts. Here are some tips:

• Use 160-180 resin per day on artifact domains
• Strongbox extras for Noblesse, Gladiator, Wanderer’s
• Don’t spend fragile resin until AR 50 for better drop rates
• Level your best artifacts to max level 20 first

To balance stats, aim for a 1:2 ratio of CRIT Rate to CRIT DMG like 50/100. Make sure your circlet and weapon complement each other – for example, a CRIT DMG circlet+CRIT Rate weapon.

Acquire More Resources

To ascend characters, level up talents, and build your roster, you’ll need a steady income of mora, EXP books, ascension gems, and more.

Here are some of my daily routines for stocking up on materials at AR 45:

• Resin – Spend it daily on ley lines, domains, weekly bosses!
• Commissions – Do those daily for primogems and companionship XP.
• Events – Participate in any active events for tons of mora, books, gems, etc!
• Shops – Buy out anything you need each month from Paimon’s Bargains, the starglitter shop, etc.
• Quests – Finish any leftover world/story quests for quick primogems.
• Exploration – Search carefully for hidden chests you may have missed before.

Reaching AR 45 opens up a whole new world of strengthening your characters. Take your time and set small goals each day and week to gradually build up your teams.
