Conclusion: Koneko Will Likely End Up With Issei, But Not as His #1

Given the dynamic of Issei‘s evolving harem and Koneko‘s budding feelings for him, I don‘t think it‘s unlikely that the two will eventually end up together. However, Rias still appears to be Issei‘s primary love interest. Here are my thoughts:

• Koneko clearly has romantic affection for Issei, especially after he supports her in controlling her powers. This lays the foundation.

• Her proposal scene in Volume 11 strongly hints she will end up as one of Issei‘s fiancees. This likely culminates in them having a daughter down the road.

• However, Rias and Issei have more intimate romantic development. Their bond is deeper and more genuinely mutual.

• If Issei had to pick just one partner, Rias would likely come out on top as his main girl.

• But the harem genre dictates Issei will likely end up with several partners. So while not #1, Koneko still has a strong chance of being in his harem of wives.

• More romantic development between Issei and Koneko may occur in later volumes as the light novels are still ongoing.

Overall, I don‘t expect Koneko to become Issei‘s sole partner the way Rias is positioned. However, there is clearly a romantic spark between the sweet nekomata and our leading man. I definitely think she has an excellent chance of joining his eventual harem as a major love interest, even if not the definitive #1 girl.
