Is Jurassic World Evolution 2 Worth It? A Dino-Sized Upgrade for Park Sim Fans

As a huge Jurassic Park fan who put dozens of hours into the first Jurassic World Evolution, I‘ve been eagerly awaiting the sequel. After spending this past weekend building and managing several parks in JWE2, I can confidently say that it is absolutely worth an upgrade for fans of the original. While not a revolution, Evolution 2 takes the fantastic core gameplay of JWE1 and expands it in nearly every way.

An Impressive Herd of New Features

JWE2 adds a whole swarm of new prehistoric creatures, tools, customization options, and management systems. Some highlights:

  • Over 75 unique dinosaur species – Say hello to marine reptiles like the massive Elasmosaurus and flying pterosaurs including the lethal Quetzalcoatlus.
  • 5 huge sandbox locations – From dense forests to scorching deserts, each map provides unique terrain and gameplay challenges.
  • Chaos Theory mode – Replay iconic moments from the movies across engaging scenario levels.
  • Deeper park management – New systems for security teams, power generation, paleobotany, and more make building your park more strategic.
  • More building customization – Additional cosmetic options let you construct exactly the park you imagined.

Management Systems Basic Expanded
Customization Limited Greatly Expanded

This table shows just a sampling of the major improvements and content additions. It‘s a beefy upgrade over JWE1!

Refined Dinosaur Behaviors Bring Parks to Life

While the core satisfaction of creating your park remains, the dinosaurs themselves are the real stars. JWE2 ups the realism and immersion with enhanced behaviors:

  • Social – Dinosaurs gather in more natural groups with community behaviors like sleeping in piles.
  • Territorial – Species fight more regularly for control of their domain. I‘ve seen several epic T-Rex rumbles!
  • Predatory – Carnivores hunt in strategic packs and ambush prey at watering holes for some pulse-pounding action.

These small touches make the parks feel alive and create unexpected stories as dinosaur ecosystems develop. It‘s amazing to watch.

Quality of Life Improvements Address Fan Feedback

As a seasoned JWE player, I appreciate the numerous UI refinements, convenience additions, and quality upgrades based directly on fan feedback:

  • Streamlined menus make navigating park management easier.
  • Shared facility upgrades propagate benefits park-wide.
  • Ranger teams can repair buildings and resupply feeders more efficiently.
  • Dinosaur needs are communicated more clearly.
  • And many more welcome tweaks!

These small changes alleviate previous frustrations and let you focus on the fun of creation. It‘s clear the developers listened closely to community suggestions.

Chaos Theory Captures Best Moments of the Films

The new Chaos Theory mode recreates pivotal scenes from the movies in engrossing bite-sized levels. Relive classic cinematic moments like:

  • Containing raptor breakouts in the original Jurassic Park
  • Rallying dinosaur herds in Fallen Kingdom
  • Managing the Jurassic World park at its peak

These scenarios let you jump into the park builder without the slog of starting from scratch. Some fans may want longer campaigns with more story focus, but I found it a fun new way to engage with the films.

So Is JWE2 Worth It? An Emphatic Yes!

As a passionate Jurassic Park gamer, upgrading to Evolution 2 was an obvious choice, and it has met all my dinosaur-sized expectations. The improvements create a deeper and livelier Jurassic World that, crucially, still captures the magic of building your own dino paradise.

While JWE2 isn‘t radically different, the new content, customization, behaviors, and management tools come together to provide a superior experience for hungry park sim fans. Unless you absolutely hated the first game, I highly recommend picking up Evolution 2 to get your fill of prehistoric wonder. It‘s a must-buy sequel that shows this franchise still has teeth!

Let me know if you have any other questions – I could talk all day about how awesome JWE2 is compared to the first. Now if you‘ll excuse me, I need to get back to managing my parks before the next T-Rex breakout!
