Mastering All Skill Trees in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

As an avid Star Wars fan with over 200 hours played across both Fallen Order and Survivor, I was utterly engrossed by my return to the boots of former Padawan Cal Kestis in this year‘s breathtaking action-adventure sequel. While the narratives and themes enthralled me once again, I was particularly impressed by the revamped progression systems providing greater combat depth through the meticulous management of skill trees.

Survivor places heavy emphasis on honing Cal‘s abilities to stand toe-to-toe against intimidating foes like the unrelenting Sith Inquisitors. With smarter enemies in greater numbers, conquering the campaign‘s Grandmaster difficulty demands expert utilization of all tactics and upgrades at your disposal.

Based on my extensive experience guiding Cal through the mysteries of Bogano to the flowering forests of Kashyyyk, I‘ve compiled this comprehensive guide to unlocking the full potential of all 75 skills across the Survival, Lightsaber, and Force trees. Consider this your handbook to gaining that vital edge in both blade and Force mastery when cutting down the Empire‘s deadliest!

Fundamentals of Survivor‘s Skill Trees

Before outlining individual talents, let’s briefly summarize each skill tree and their core focuses:

Survival Tree

  • Central Focus: Bolstering Health, Evade effectiveness
  • Key Upgrades: Stim boosts, Focused Sight, Survival Instincts
  • Playstyle: Sustained defense and resilience

Lightsaber Tree

  • Central Focus: Unlocking stances and combos for greater damage
  • Key Upgrades: Dual Wield, Crossguard, Cyclone Slash, Dancing Blades
  • Playstyle: Aggressive melee and finisher damage

Force Tree

  • Central Focus: New powers to manipulate enemies and environments
  • Key Upgrades: Unrelenting Pull, Confusion abilities, Extended Slow
  • Playstyle: Strategic use of powers over brute force

With these basics established, let‘s dig into the most indispensable skills across all spectrums of force-wielding martial prowess!

Best Survival Skills for Resilience

While less exciting than offensive options, investing some points into survival upgrades is hugely rewarding. I focused on pursuing passive buffs that boosted sustainability in all encounters:

Improved & Perfected Stim Formulas

  • SP Cost: 2
  • Benefit: Increase health regeneration from Stim canisters

Having an emergency backup heal to rely on is invaluable. These upgrades make Stims restore way more vitality, giving you that lifesaving sustain when near death. As a bonus, Stims fully replenish upon meditating too!

Survival Skill

  • SP Cost: 1
  • Benefit: Raise Cal‘s maximum health

Every additional health pip improves durability in ALL fights. This clean boost passively increased my longevity against deadly foes during late-game encounters. Great early investment that keeps paying off.

Focused Sight

  • SP Cost: 2
  • Benefit: Auto-dodge melee attacks when blocking

This talent single-handedly won me several difficult Inquisitor duels by nullifying all their Up Close and Personal advances. Extremely useful when facing aggressive saber specialists who love punishing mistimed parries.

Domination with Lightsaber Mastery

While Survival kept me alive longer, perfectly executing enhanced lightsaber techniques is what ultimately brought the pain against the Empire‘s finest. Based on preferences for mobility or damage, these were the most indispensable, adrenaline-fueling stances and abilities:

Dual Wield Stance

  • Playstyle: Rapid flurries of precision damage. Excels against singular enemies.

Wielding double sabers sat perfectly with my aggressive preferences for pressuring opponents with endless chains of slashes. Once you incorporate dodges between swings, this stance becomes devilishly difficult to counter thanks to its unmatched speed and finesse.

Dancing Blades

  • SP Cost: 3
  • Benefit: Throw spinning sabers between groups of enemies

Easily the most satisfying means for decimating waves of troopers and rocket squads. Nothing quite beats Force-throwing twin buzzsaws of death through entire Imperial platoons before recalling them mid-flight with a dramatic flourish!

Backstep Slash

  • SP Cost: 1
  • Benefit: Retreat while attacking after parrying

The ultimate counterattacking tool against melee specialists when you perfectly time their attempted hits. Backstep Slash was invaluable for punishing overeager Purge Troopers and Inquisitors, opening them for window to land my own punishing combos. Fantastic mobility perk overall.

Crossguard Stance

  • Playstyle Smashing foes with slower, more powerful strikes

The hybrid saber staff form introduced in Survivor specializes in forceful area attacks with its unique vented design. Crossguard proved invaluable when outnumbered by adding crucial crowd control effects to Cal‘s arsenal.

Greater Impact

  • SP Cost: 1
  • Benefit: Increase shockwave AoE range

Amplifying the radius of Cal‘s slam shockwave attack helped keep groups of rocket troopers and staff Purge Troopers at bay. Buys breathing room when enemies try swarming your position or attacking from the rear.

Sundering Strike

  • SP Cost: 2
  • Benefit: Devastating 180 degree frontal attack

Fantastic option for Hammering surrounding squads while guarding your back from ambushes. The dramatically widened arc of Sundering Strikes allows Cal to incapacitate full circles of enemies with an elegant whirling uppercut customized perfectly for Crossguard‘s specialty.

Tactical Manipulation with Force Mastery

While less visually grandiose than acrobatic saber combat, thoughtfully utilizing Survivor‘s expanded Force powers proved clutch on numerous occasions. Peeling enemies out of position or turning them against each other helped turn overwhelming odds in my favor. These were the most indispensable utilities:

Confounded Mind

  • SP Cost: 2
  • Benefit: Extended duration of Mind Trick confusion

Having your own platoon of mind-tricked rocket troopers or staff Purge Troopers causing chaos in the backlines is extremely gratifying. The expanded confusion window let me orchestrate beautiful mayhem before enemies snapped out of their haze!

Unrelenting Pull

  • SP Cost 3
  • Benefit: Yank biggest enemies off their feet

Few things feel more awesome than effortlessly plucking 500lb jet trooper captains out of the sky and slamming them to the ground like helpless ragdolls ready for a finisher. This upgrade makes even the beefiest enemies look foolish!

Extended Slow

  • SP Cost: 3
  • Benefit: Slowed enemies stay snared after attacks

A spectacular boon when tackling dangerous lone wolf enemies like the merciless Third Sister. Inflicting Slow and then pummeling her with endless combos before the effect wore off helped secure victories I wouldn‘t have achieved otherwise. The extended paralysis window really swings duels in your favor.

Master All Facets, Triumph Over Darkness

And there you have it – the undisputed ideal selection of upgrades for mastering enemy engagement across all fronts by expanding Cal‘s skillset. From increased vitality and evasion to flashy saber skills and strategic Force manipulation, no stone was left unturned in our journey towards full Jedi Grandmaster status!

Whether aggressively carving through adversaries with twin sabers, tactically controlling the battlefield with Mind Tricks, or simply weathering devastating blows thanks to added health, the talents outlined in this guide fully enable deriving mastery from every facet of combat.

Now that you‘re armed with the knowledge for unlocking Survivor‘s full potential, may the Force be with you against the Empire‘s deadliest forces! I welcome any feedback from your own experiences gaining strengths across the skill trees. Together we shall triumph!
