Demystifying the ZOMG: An Expert‘s Guide to MOAB-Class Bloons in BTD
As a long-time BTD enthusiast, few things get me more pumped up than hearing the announcement "ZOMG incoming!" But newer players may find these mighty blimp bloons intimidating at first. Well, let this bloon battle veteran turn you into a MOAB-class master with the ultimate guide to understanding and beating ZOMGs!
ZOMG 101
Let‘s start from the beginning – the ZOMG acronym stands for Zeppelin Of Mighty Gargantuaness, which perfectly captures its imposing nature. These heavy-hitters first appeared in BTD4 and return in later titles like BTD5 and BTD6.
Some key stats on the infamous ZOMG bloon:
| BTD Game | Health | Speed | Spawned Bloons |
|---|---|---|---|
| BTD4 | 4000 | Slow | 2 BFBs |
| BTD5 | 4800 | Slow | 4 BFBs |
| BTD6 | 16000 | Slow | 4 BFBs |
As you can see, the ZOMG underwent some major growth spurts over the course of the series – by BTD6 it has ballooned to a whopping 16,000 health! And upon destruction, it unleashes a squadron of brutal BFBs.
Clearly this is no everyday bloon enemy. So how do experienced players like myself manage to pop the mighty ZOMG? Keep reading for battle-tested tips.
Taming the Brutal Beasts of MOAB-class
Before discussing ZOMG tactics specifically, it helps to understand the different tiers of MOAB-class bloons:
-
MOAB – The Massive Ornary Air Blimp first appeared in BTD1 as the deadliest bloon yet with 200 health. While weaker than today‘s ZOMGs, it still posed a serious threat at the time!
-
BFB – BTD3 upped the ante with these Brutal Floating Behemoths packing 700 health. Their red/white striped design appropriately matches the brutality.
-
DDT – This sneaky Dark Dirigible Titan is actually a combo bloon mixing properties of Camo, Lead and Black bloons. Introduced in BMC, it has 400 health.
-
ZOMG – Now we‘re back to the beast I‘ve already introduced!
-
BAD – The Big Airship of Doom is the end-game MOAB-class challenge debuting in BTD6 with whopping 75,000 health and immune to slowdown. Definitely save your biggest weapons for this fight!
Now let‘s get into specific strategies and towers best suited for facing these MOAB-class threats:
Temple of the Monkey God
This exotic tower‘s high damage and huge radius make it incredibly effective against MOABs. I like to build a Sun Temple or True Sun God in the later rounds of most maps to shred through ZOMGs and BADs. The price tag is steep, but it‘s worth it!
Ground Zero Ability
Ground Zero allows you to manually detonate a massive bomb that can wipe out MOAB layers instantly. Timing it right as a tough wave approaches gives your other towers more time to clean up the children bloons inside. This ability has gotten me through more rough MOAB rounds than I can count!
Icicle Impale
On maps with water, Icicle Impale is a must-have for its ability to freeze MOABs solid temporarily. This stalling effect buys you crucial extra seconds for your main attacking towers to go to work. I like to combine Impale with high DPS options like the Sun Avatar.
MOAB Eliminator
MOAB Eliminator is great for quickly assassinating individual MOAB layers as needed. This ability one-shots MOABs and BFBs, while heavily damaging ZOMGs and DDTs. I use it situationally to pick off problematic MOABs leaking through my defenses.
There are plenty more useful options, but these are some of my personal go-to MOAB slayers!
The Method Behind the MOAB Madness
But why do these MOAB-class bloons keep getting bigger and nastier with every BTD entry? As a game designer myself, I respect the thought Ninja Kiwi puts into evolving new challenges:
-
MOAB – Established blimps as intimidating new threat unlike regular bloons
-
BFB – Upped stakes as players honed MOAB-popping skills
-
DDT – Added new properties like Camo to force new strategies
-
ZOMG – Significantly ramped health to require late-game planning
-
BAD – Created ultimate MOAB-class challenge immune to many tricks
This brilliant progression constantly forces veterans to re-evaluate their tactics and keeps the gameplay feeling fresh after hundreds of hours. Well played Ninja Kiwi…well played!
Of course, us players reap rewards from conquering these evolving challenges too – beating my first ZOMG and BAD in BTD6 were extremely satisfying moments!
Tips from a Seasoned ZOMG Popper
After dominating thousands of ZOMGs over the years, I‘ve picked up some pro tips worth sharing:
-
Don‘t underestimate the ZOMG‘s bulk – set up defenses early and sacrifice greeding for extra farms. Leaking one can quickly end your game!
-
Mix stalling options like ice and glue with high damage for maximum efficiency in taking down layers.
-
Abilities like Ground Zero and MOAB Eliminator excel for quickly controlling leaks – use them proactively!
-
Towers with bonus MOAB damage boosts like from Monkey Intelligence Bureau shine late game.
-
Ensure you have Camo detection before DDTs arrive to avoid painful surprises.
-
Save insta-kill abilities like First Strike Capability for the final deadly BAD layer.
-
Most importantly – stay calm and keep experimenting! Half the fun with BTD is finding creative strategies.
Hopefully these tips from my years of monkey madness can help you start dominating those ZOMGs too. Soon you‘ll be a certified MOAB mauler!
