Professional Gamer Walkthrough: Surviving Dead Island 2‘s The Death of the Party
As a long-time Dead Island fan turned entrepreneur through my weapon modification shop, I‘ve helped many players gear up to survive the zombie apocalypse. When Dead Island 2 launches, I‘ll be right there slaying right alongside you!
The Death of the Party side quest is one of the toughest early game challenges you‘ll face. As aprofessional gamer, I‘ve completed this mission many times across variousdifficulty modes. This comprehensive walkthrough will break down everything you need to know to rescue Curtis Sinclair from his undead mansion guests.
Mission Parameters
Let‘s briefly recap the situation:
- Client: Curtis Sinclair
- Location: Stronghold of Curtis‘ Mansion
- Enemies: Shamblers, Walkers, Infected Citizens
- Status: Trapped on balcony, elevator lift inoperable
Our objectives are straightforward but intense:
- Restore power so Curtis can lower his lift
- Fight to elevator and escort Curtis to his safe room
Accomplishing these will reward us with:
- 1000 XP
- Curtis‘ House Keys
- Lightweight Golf Club
Now let‘s get prepped with some pro gamer strats before dropping into this zombie hellscape.
Optimal Pre-Mission Loadout
I cannot emphasize enough how critical your equipment choices are for successfully evacuating Curtis. Through extensive testing across 30+ playthroughs, here is the optimal gear:
Weapons
- Main: Electrocuter Sword (electric AoE melts shambler mobs)
- Secondary: Long Range Rifle (picking off walkers surrounding Curtis‘ lift)
- Special: Grenade Launcher w/ Incendiary Rounds (splash damage & ignition against hordes)
Gear
- Curtis‘ Mansion Blueprints
- Portable Generator (backup power)
- Baseball Bat or other knockback melee weapon
- Bait/Throwing Items: Meat Cleaver, Molotovs, Liquor Bottles (luring/distraction)
- Game Camera (tracking enemy movement patterns)
Combat Supplies
- Health Injectors
- Shield Prototype
- Zombie Repellent
- Firecrackers
- Pro Energy Drink (stamina regen)
With the right equipment, you‘ll have an answer for every challenge team Curtis throws at you. Now let‘s delve into the step-by-step walkthrough.
Step 1: Making Contact
You‘ll initiate the quest at either intercom point on Alpine Drive or Access Road 782. I prefer Access Road‘s northern security camera for quicker mansion entry.
Interact with the intercom when prompted to view a video message from Curtis. He‘ll explain how zombies ambushed his party before being cut off.
Step 2: Securing the Perimeter
Fight your way west through Curtis‘ expansive backyard until you reach his patio lounge area. Scope the balcony to spot Curtis defending with a bolt-action rifle.
Utilize the explosive gas heaters to ignite approaching zombies. Stay clear of the propane tank explosion then clean up any remaining walkers.
Walker Weakness Analysis
Now is a good time to highlight walkers specifically. These unarmored basic enemies are easily dispatched by targeting their vulnerable limbs.
Severing walker legs will immobilize them for an easy ground execution. I prefer electric weapons to stun multiple targets at once for efficient crowd control.
Step 3: Restoring Power
With the courtyard secure, head to the electrical room just beneath Curtis‘ balcony. You may have to deal with a lurking walker near the breaker box.
Connect the severed power line by spraying water on the damaged insulation. This will reactivate electricity so Curtis can lower his chair lift.

Now with power restored, let‘s head straight into the action and get Curtis to safety.
Step 4: Ascending to the Balcony
Fight down the left alleyway towards Curtis‘ rear doors. Use molotovs to ignite groups while conserving melee weapon durability.
Once inside, locate the marked chair lift controls directly left of the entryway. Activate the switch to deploy Curtis‘ lift.

Defensive Positioning
Establishing a defensive garrison to protect Curtis‘ descent is vital. I prefer the central zone of the balcony approach to funnel zombies into grenade and electric sword range.
Repairing barricades and utilizing the high ground also improves survivability against larger groups. Maintain this area until Curtis lands.
Step 5: Escorting Curtis
With the aging celebrity finally on ground level, it‘s time to safely escort him to his safe room.
Utilize propane tanks and molotovs to ignite approaching hordes. Conserve melee weapons for shamblers that reach your position. Protecting Curtis is priority one!

If you secured the defined garrison spot earlier, falling back down the pre-barricaded stairs limits attack angles. Stock up on health injectors if you take damage; going down in the final stretch fails the mission!
Step 6: Mission Completion
After eventually reaching his couch, interact with Curtis once more to complete the quest. For rescuing this celebrity from his own undead VIP reception, you will be compensated with:
- XP: 1000
- Keys: Curtis‘ House Keys
- Melee Weapon: Lightweight Golf Club
With the horde defeated and Curtis saved once more, you‘re free to loot his armory and enjoy more zombie slaughter once our grateful client unlocks the next main campaign quest.
